About me
Hello! My name is Vitor Pestana, I'm from Niterói (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil), and I'm a Back-End Web Developer who also works as a Full-Stack Developer. I have always been interested in technology, and over time that interest naturally evolved into a passion for software development. At the same time, I have a deep appreciation for the arts, beauty, logic, and critical thinking. Before pursuing Computer Science, I earned a degree in Philosophy. Although philosophy remains one of my greatest intellectual passions, I eventually discovered my professional calling in software development. Around 2019, I began exploring how software is built, and after writing my first `for` loop in C, I fell in love with programming. As I continued studying computer science fundamentals, I specialized in back-end development and expanded my expertise across the web development stack. Today, philosophy and the arts continue to inspire me intellectually, while Computer Science and Software Engineering are where I have found my professional passion.
Above all else, I value Love in life, and professionally it is no different. In everything I do, I leave a part of myself, of my soul, of Love. In Greek, this value is expressed by the word meraki (μεράκι), and I learned it from my family at an early age. It is no coincidence that I proudly highlight my family name, Pestana. My grandfather, known as 'Zé Leiteiro' (Zé milkman), taught me from childhood to put Love into everything I do. He fought in World War II with the Brazilian Navy against the horrors of nazism; he's the man looking into the camera. After the war, he worked as a milkman with Love; we were very poor. Through Love, sweat, and blood, he paved the way for me to become who I am today. Like my war hero, the greatest value I carry is the Love I put into everything I do.
